The event

The 7in7 Challenge is well underway. Mal Law and the support runners have had a successful start to what will be a remarkable week.

The event was kicked off the day before with a charity auction at Mitre10 Wanaka. The Mitre10 staff rallied to show solidarity with Mal, the support runners and the support team.

They held an auction on the Saturday with guest auctioneer former All Black, Marc Ellis. The auction drew in a large crowd from the community who were well entertained by Ellis. The auction raised an amazing $10,365.

11107in72010 Sunday 28 November was Day One of the 7in7 event where the runners took on the Twin Lakes Marathon (Lakes Hawea and Wanaka). At 32 degrees, it was hot and challenging.

The 42.2 kilometers of undulating and exposed trails required full attention and focus. But Mal and the runners were all in good spirits. The run was well worth every step for the breathtaking scenery.

The participants were of all ages and from as far away as Oakland, California and Singapore. Marc Ellis joined in to run the half marathon and quickly sprinted ahead. Mal completed the Twin Lakes Marathon in 5hr 15min.

There was a amazing amount of energy and support from the Wanaka community who came out to encourage and root for the runners. Mal Law and the support runners crossed the finish line to a warm and welcoming Wanaka community.
